Delightful, huh? I say Friday is a great day to head over to the Getty Villa to check out that Aphrodite exhibit I’ve been talking about (here and here) and, while you’re there, stroll the grounds and celebrate National Public Gardens Day. I love museum gardens, especially when they transport you to another place and time. I sang their praises for Kirtsy not too long ago, and am thinking of making a Part 2. I enjoy them that much.
Sponsored by the American Public Gardens Association and Rain Bird, National Public Gardens Day helps raise awareness of the botanic gardens, arboreta, conservatories and public gardens across the country. On Friday May 11th, The Getty Villa will be offering a tour of their Herb Garden in acknowledgement of this day. Tour will include Roman recipes, mythological stories and a toga! A ticket is required. Check their site for more info!
