A different kind of therapy

I’m a Moroccon Oil product junkie so you know if I’m talking about another hair product, it’s worth a try. I ran out of my regular shampoo/conditioner and decided to use the Dove Hair Therapy Nutritive Solutions Daily Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner they sent me (not compensated). I actually really like it. It’s hard to find products that moisturize your hair without leaving a greasy residue. My hair is very heavy and falls flat easily. The last thing I want is for a product to give me a wet dog look. So if you have curly hair like me (I blow it out), give it a shot and tell me what you think.

Juicing for Beauty

raw juice for beauty theartmuse
Sometime last year, I learned that I had a vitamin deficiency. Although my doctor recommended a long list of vitamins, he strongly encouraged a whole new lifestyle including exercise. I can’t say I was eating anything really bad but my meals were not balanced at all and my cardio time was pretty non-existent. There were days I would just skip meals because of work, which later caused me to sit and scarf down a large dinner. Really not a good habit and it’s still something I have to work on everyday. My doctor urged me to eat basically anything a cave woman would eat, get an hour of cardio into my daily routine, take my vitamins and use my juicer. I’ve since fallen in love with juicing (not in love with exercise as of yet!). Something about it makes me feel like I’m doing something great for myself. I love it so much, I shared a recipe on Babble Beauty. Not only do I feel a boost in energy, my skin’s appearance looks healthier once again proving that we are what we eat!

Nope, this isn’t breakfast. It’s actually my new beauty go-to solution. Oatmeal, Honey, Lemon. You can check out the recipe HERE. But before you do, it can be used for your hands and feet. I spoiled myself to a DIY pedicure yesterday evening and used this scrub right before throwing on my strappy heels for a night out . Perfection!

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Latina Bloggers Connect and SlimFast. This post is brought to you by SlimFast. All thoughts and content are my own.

I’ve been on a major berry kick lately so when the Slim-Fast Latina BloggersTour opportunity came across my desk(top), I wanted to join in on the fun. I’m actually sipping this mocktail as I write this post. As you see, I sprinkled in my favorite fruit of all – blueberries. I have a serious thing for them (muffins, cakes, juice, solo, you name it) and they’re sitting by the plenty at the bottom of my glass. Needless to say, I’m thoroughly enjoying each sip as I describe how yummy of a treat this is. I also don’t feel guilty knowing that it’s made with Slim-Fast and is only 140 calories per serving. No point in exercising if I’m going to pile on food and drinks (well, for the exception of my cheat days!)

I’m a total light weight (and I still have work to do, which requires a sober eye) so I made the mocktail version of this Berry Sexy Vanilla Sunrise recipe.

Here’s what you need:
3 oz SlimFast French Vanilla Shake
1/2 C. frozen mixed berries (mine had lots of blackberries and blueberries!)
1-2 pieces of fresh ginger-to taste
1 1/2 tsp. agave syrup or 1 1/2 tsp. honey (I used honey)
1 ice cube; add more as needed for smooth consistency
Additional berries for garnish (Anti-oxidant heaven)

There are tons of ideas to choose from. Check out the new SlimFast cocktail/mocktail recipes and start slimming for summer.

Cocktails are not a part of the SlimFast 3-2-1 plan. Only occasional use recommended. You must be 21+ to consume alcohol and please drink responsibly. Losing more than 2lbs per week is not recommended. Exercise 30 minutes daily and follow the SlimFast plan.

I’ve been playing tour guide this week in LA. Always fun when you get the chance to show people new things. It also gives you the chance to see things with fresh eyes as well. For example, I really really realized that we have so many great restaurants here and so many fun things to do. When you’re doing the day to day stuff, you tend to forget those things. The weather has been beautiful and perfect for evening ventures. I love that I was able to wear long sleeves like this blush sheer top from Zara. The embellishments on the cuffs are so pretty and dress up any casual outfit. To add a pop of color, I’m wearing Red by Mary Kay. That’s one of my go-to colors if I’m not wearing Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet. In fact, I’m so into lipstick transforming a look or a mood, I did a lipstick beauty roundup on Babble called The Power of Lipstick. I asked 14 bloggers to share how lipstick transforms the way they feel. It was wonderful to see I was not alone in appreciating the little things that can cheer up any day.
